We have had previous lawyers handling our case and this is what they keep having problems with. I know
attorney’s are the best way to go, but I would like to try on my own as well. Please keep this in mind when
answering my questions. Serious answers only please.

Have you heard of a second opinion? Doctors are reluctant to view a case unless the first doctor will release the records of the patient. They call it professional ethics. Actually is a dodge to keep from being sued by a patient. The only way to get the second opinion is to go through all the tests again with a second doctor. Which is more expensive, the doctor or the lawyer?

If medical marijuana is legal in your state, you need a prescription. So a doctor not an attorney.

I suppose if it is not legal, then yea a lawyer might be able to help you draft the initiative and organize a campaign to get it legalized

If medical school doesnt work can i still become a Lawyer?

My plan is on becoming a surgeon. So i plan on majoring probably in a science, like biology, and take the premed path. Can i still take lsats for law school just in case i dont make it???

Yeah I think that you still could. But, I think that you would have to make up some classes that you did not take in law school.

Why does art school cost as much/close to a medical/lawyer degree?

Some of my friends are going off to medical school and I wanted to go to art school. It turns out if i go to art school, i would leave with more debt then they would with medical school. Though I understand paying around 80-90 grand to be a doctor or a lawyer, but to pay that much just so i can learn how to make a pot, or use a film camera. Why does it cost so much? Most artist don’t even make that much. I think it’s kinda funny that i would leave school 80 grand in debt with a degree in crafts/photography.

A private, for profit art school can indeed cost as much and you are not likely to get a job at the end of it.

On the otherhand, a public university are degree is almost free compared to the cost of a medical degree. However, few arts grads ever get a job with it. A medical degree pretty well guarantees you a good career.

A degree in Anthropology, Archeology, Art, Creative Writing, General Studies, History, Humanities, Literature, Political Science, most any language including English, Philosophy or Sociology is considered a "personal enrichment" degree. That is, these degrees are degrees that are meant to enrich you personally in the classical sense of a university education without leading to any specific job.

However, in today’s world where people go to university to enable themselves to get a job and hopefully a career a bachelor’s in these fields is essentially useless. With a degree in these fields and a GPA generally over 3.0 you can:

1. Get into law school. However law schools today graduate far more lawyers than there is business for lawyers.

2. Get into graduate school in a different field. Hopefully one without too many prerequisites you do not have. Consider getting a masters in Technology Management. You can make a similar salary to an engineer but you need essentially no sciences prerequisites.

3. Get into graduate school in the same field and eventually into a PhD so you can become a college professor in this field someday. However, there are far more PhD grads in some fields like Philosophy than there ever will be professorships or any kind of teaching programs.

4. Take a teaching qualification, which is usually 2 more years, so you can teach the subject at a public K-12 school.

5. Look for a job in a field where they want you to have a degree without any concern what it is. Where they only want the degree because they want educated people who have proven they can stick with something difficult and see it to completion. Like the insurance industry.

6. If you join the military you are more likely to enter as an officer instead of enlisted personnel.

Do note that if you do go for a more advanced degree, no one cares where you got your bachelor’s degree. Only the school where you got your most advanced degree counts. And that counts for a lot less than the name schools would have you believe.

If your GPA is over 3.0, don’t take a second undergrad degree if you already have one of these degrees. A graduate degree will be more valuable to you.

I encountered a situation at a local hospital when my mother-in-law went in. the doctors didn’t perform any tests and sent her home with medication. the problem worsened and even the doctors told me that they were supposed to perform some kind of test when she went in for high blood pressure, suffering from severe headaches, and vomitting that lasted more than 5 days. The second time she came (5 days after the first initial visit) she had a seizure during the MRI and later showed symptoms of having had a stroke a couple days after being admitted.

Does my lawyer have to pay my medical bills from my personal injury case settlement?

Just settled a personal injury case, and part of the settlement will be used to pay medical bills. My lawyer said his office will send the payment. Is this common and can I pay the bills myself?

If the medical providers filed liens in your case, your attorney MUST pay those off before you get any of the cash.

My lawyer is asking me to tell my medical insurrance to pay for medical biolls from an accident, why?

I don’t understand I think he is lying about the settlement amount. Do I have a right to know the exact settlment amount. What would be the best way to find out the total correct settlement amount.
My lawyer asked me to get my insurance to pay for medical that was caused by a car accident he said the car insurrance doesn’t want to settle for more so that i can pocket more he said to pay medical bills with my own medical insurrance.

What do your insurance have to do with this settlement?

As for your lawyer, yes you have the right to know all the facts. But don’t fight the guy yet (if you are wrong then it would make thing harder for you). If there is a settlement you will get an official communication from the people you are suing so read it very carefully or take it to an expert.

Do not take a check if it doesn’t come from the people you sued, or if it’s in cash. If your lawyer is liying then the one way for him to steal would be to cash the original check himself pocket the money and make another check for you.

DON’T sign anything your lawyer give you, even if he tells you that you need to sing FAST, tell him you need to take any document home to read them and ask for opinions before signing anything, if he refuse and try to pressure you or intimidate you then you know there is something wrong, change lawyer and report him to the bar if you find inconsistencies on the documents.

THE best way to find a lawyer is by word of mouth. Ask your: family, friends, coworkers, anyone you might know in the same situation, etc.

Call your local (usually county) bar association. Ask for names of attorneys that handle Medical Malpractice Defense.

When you call the law office(s), insist on speaking with the Lawyer. Just tell the Secretary the main idea of your matter – do not tell all the little details of your matter to the Secretary – save the details for the Attorney. When you get the Lawyer on the phone line, ask him/her:

- Do they give >>>FREE, initial consultations for the FIRST meeting? (most do, but not all – you have to ask, don’t assume)
- How much do they charge (per hour)?
- Could you make payments on your account?
- Can they help you? OR Refer you to someone who can help you?

A lawyer claims that they can garnish social security from your bank account for past medical bills.?

A garnishment has been levied against my bank account. Both my wife and I are disabled and on Social Security Disability. The lawyer for the hospital bills claim they can once it is in the bank.

The "lawyer" is correct. However, since social security payments are exempt from creditors, you could notify the bank that the funds in the account are from social security direct deposits only and thus exempt.
To do that, you need to keep your funds separate. Do not deposit any other money into the social security account. Don’t mix your social security income with any other income. Even a one dollar deposit from any other source will remove the exempt status from the account.
There is a from that you need to fill out and file with the bank. This form should be available to you at the bank.
